Consider the intent our founders expressed in this Preamble to the Constitution:
We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
In order to form a more perfect union, the Federal Government must perform seven separable yet interconnected functions:
- Provide for the national defense – from foreign powers and other external and internal threats
- Provide for a national currency and monetary system
- Oversee public education, health and welfare
- Regulate interstate commerce
- Provide and ensure critical infrastructure such as transportation, energy, and communications
- Ensure compliance with the Constitution and Federal Law throughout the land
- Levy and collect taxes sufficient to fund its operations
Jobs, jobs, jobs…
Leaders of both major political parties have made job creation a key element in their campaign messages. But nowhere in our country’s founding documents does it state that a purpose of government is to create jobs. Rather, we believe the opposite to be true; that the Government needs to perform its responsibilities with integrity and to a high standard of quality as efficiently as possible – without regard for job creation.
I agree that the framers’ intent has lost its influence, since our system of gov’t. is broken; however, I don’t understand why you come to the conclusion that our nation is now incorporated. How was the Constitution altered by the creation of our federal district? According to Wikipedia, the purpose of creating the District of Columbia in 1871 was to provide a form of governance for the square miles set aside from the two states that had donated land for federal transactions.
The constitution was altered in 1871 to allow corporations to run the country; there is no longer the framers intent influencing the more important functions of government. Until Washington D.C.’s corporate charter is pulled, or a state cedes the union, we are all Unites States Incorcorated’s property, and you better stay in line….
Please state what action was taken that altered the constitution as you state. “…to allow corporations to run the country,” is pretty broad! Tell me more!
